about unrushed press

A place for people who want to live a little more deliberately.

Unrushed Press is a publishing studio, community, and growing digital archive devoted to books, ideas, curiosity, and the examined life.

We create books, essays, field guides, learning experiences, reading paths, and other resources for people who want to pay closer attention to the world around them—and to themselves and one another. Our work is rooted in a simple belief: a meaningful life isn't something we optimize. It is something we cultivate.

We believe curiosity is worth following even when it leads nowhere measurable. That books can become companions. That learning can be joyful without becoming a credential. That ordinary days deserve rituals. That technology can be useful when it sends us back into the physical world rather than keeping us trapped inside a screen.

Unrushed Press exists as a quiet counterpoint to a culture of constant output. Some things deserve slowness. Some ideas deserve years. Some books deserve a lifetime.

our mission

Our mission is to help people reclaim attention, curiosity, and community through analog-inspired living, lifelong learning, meaningful rituals, and books that invite deeper engagement with life.

Everything we make is intended to do more than provide information. We want our work to become an invitation.

An essay might send you down a rabbit hole you've never considered before. A field guide might lead you outside for an afternoon. A reading path might introduce you to a book that stays with you for years. A conversation might make you call an old friend. A curiosity project might give you permission to become a beginner again.

The digital world is a bridge, not the destination.

Life happens in the physical world.

where it came from

Unrushed Press began with a personal question: What kind of life do I actually want to build—and what kind of person do I need to become to build it?

For years, it was easy to measure a life by external markers: achievement, productivity, credentials, progress, and the next thing to accomplish.

Eventually, those measures began to feel incomplete.

Curiosity became more interesting than achievement. Presence became more valuable than productivity. Meaningful relationships mattered more than appearing successful. Learning became something worth doing simply because the world was interesting.

There was a growing realization that the life had to come first.

The work would follow.

Unrushed Press grew from that realization.

It began as an attempt to collect the things worth paying attention to: books, questions, observations, journeys, discoveries, rituals, and ideas that make an ordinary life feel larger.

Over time, that collection became a philosophy. Then a body of work. And eventually, a place to invite other people in.

the person behind the press

Unrushed Press is intentionally larger than the person who started it.

The work is published under a pen name, and the person behind the Press prefers to remain somewhat in the background. That is not an attempt to create distance from the work. It is part of the philosophy.

The ideas matter more than the personality attached to them.

The hope is to build something that readers can make their own—a library, a set of questions, a collection of practices, a community, and eventually a physical place that continues to exist beyond any one person.

The work comes from a life of curiosity: reading widely, following unnecessary rabbit holes, learning things simply because they are interesting, paying attention to ordinary places, collecting questions, and trying to build a life that feels rich rather than rushed.

The author is still figuring it out. That's part of the point.

Unrushed Press isn't written from the perspective of someone who has mastered the art of living. It is being built by someone who is still practicing.

What We're Building

Live the life first.
Build the library second.
Invite others in when there's already a fire burning.

Unrushed Press is becoming a library rather than a content machine. A growing collection of books, essays, curricula, field guides, recommendations, conversations, and projects that people can return to across different seasons of their lives. We are interested in work that gets better with time—not work that depends on being consumed quickly and forgotten. And eventually, the ideas of Unrushed Press will have a physical home.

The Fields House is the long-term vision: a place where books, gardens, meals, retreats, guest rooms, learning, conversation, and community can bring the philosophy into physical form. Unrushed Press preserves the ideas. The Fields House embodies them. But for now, we're starting where most meaningful things begin:

  • With a book.

  • A question.

  • A walk.

  • A conversation.

  • An afternoon spent paying attention.

  • And an invitation to stay a little longer.

Stay in the loop.
